14 September 2014 – A Flat Tire On 95?!

So I’m driving down to Miami to meet Carlos and get the key to Lois’. It’s been an exhausting several weeks recovering from surgery, planning my treatments in Miami and preparing for Aaron’s Bar Mitzvah. Just as I got to the Miami Gardens exit, about 10 miles from my destination, I noticed loud thumping sound. Crap! Just what I need, a flat tire on 95!

I was in the passing lane so I pulled over to the left to investigate. Turns out the flat was on the rear passenger side. I was not a good place to hang out and put on the spare so I crossed over the highway to get the right side where there was a whole empty lane due to construction. There I was able to tuck behind some safety barrels which made me a lot more comfortable.

I unpacked my trunk, pulled out the jack and spare and got to work. Fortunately I’ve been in this situation before and knew what I was doing. Of course, the nuts where very tight and I had to step on the crow bar and jump to get them to loosen. A few kicks shouting F*CK CANCER were also in order!!!

I had the donut on in about 10- 15 minutes and was back on the road very quickly. Carlos had to go out for a previous engagement so I headed down to Mid-Town Miami to have dinner at Sakaya Kitchen, a favorite restaurant of Anthony Bourdain, for some Asian Funk Fusion. I found a spot right in front of the restaurant where I enjoyed my 8 hour roast pork bao without having to unpack my car or worry about it getting broken into!

A tasty meal after a stressful drive down. More resolved to kick cancer’s ass than ever!
