30 September 2014 – Ours Go To 11!

So far I’ve had 11 treatments and am on my way to becoming radiant! I can feel the side effects kicking in more strongly now and I’m trying to not let them overwhelm me. My taste buds are toast and the bitter, metallic taste comes and goes throughout the day. Certain foods trigger it more than others and I’m trying to keep it simple so I can get the nutrition I need to stay strong and healthy. Chicken cutlets, eggs and my protein smoothies have been providing the bulk of my nutrition. I’m drinking a carrot, apple, ginger and Greens + juice right now to try to get some fruit and vegetables in me. It tastes pretty funky but I’m hoping it helps me feel better.

I’m pretty tired and took a long nap on the couch after treatment. When I woke up I made a protein shake, answered some emails, tried to resolve my medical bills (ha!) and went to Publix for eggs, protein powder, soup, apples, etc.

My mouth is getting sore, my tongue hurts when I speak, I have a sore throat that’s making it difficult to swallow and I have a bit of a stomach ache. I’ve been told by the doctors, nurses and techs that this is going to get worse, possibly much worse. For now I’m trying to stay in the moment and not worry too much about what may or may not happen to me down the road. When I think about it, I feel better now than I would if I had the flu, so it’s really not that bad.

I’ll continue to do my pushups and sit-ups each morning while eating in a way that supports my body’s ability to heal itself.

My family and friends have been tremendous in their support. The emails and phone calls I get every day help me sustain a positive attitude. I know I am loved and I am grateful.
