9 October 2014 – Fantastic Day

I had a fantastic day yesterday! I’m a actually a little shocked at how good I felt after having 17 treatments behind me. I took advantage of the brain power to work on my strategy for staying strong and healthy for the final two weeks. Everyone keeps telling me that things can get much more difficult after 20 treatments. I’ve certainly had ups and downs so far and have concerns about the challenges that may lie ahead. Focused on the moment, paying attention to my body and giving it what it needs and using my intelligence to eat and exercise properly are essential right now.

With this in mind I created a food journal to track my meals including stats on calorie, protein and sugar intake. My goal is 2200 calories with 100 grams of protein. In addition to the tracker I started to create food “modules” with recipes and nutritional info that I can plug into my day so I’m not reading the same labels all day long. This also allows me to see where I am and choose meals that will help meet my goals.

Since my throat is too swollen and irritated for solid foods I researched high calorie/high protein smoothies and found lots of great ideas for getting the nutrition I need in small, nutrient packed liquids.

Here’s what I had for breakfast today:

Bursting Blueberry Smoothie
8 oz Soy Milk 90/7/6
1/3 Cup Dry Milk 80/8/12
1 Scoop Vanilla Creme Muscle Milk 150/16/2
1/2 Cup Silken Tofu 45/4/0
1 Banana 105/1/14
1/2 Cup Frozen Blueberries 70/0/12

Calories/Protein/Sugar 540/36/46
