The intensity of the week picked up today. Annabel and I made the 4 hour drive up to Jacksonville for a follow up visit with my surgeon, Dr. Fernandes. He was very happy with my recovery and my ability to speak. We discussed my treatment plan and Dr. Fernandes was understanding and supportive of our decision to proceed with radiotherapy at University of Miami/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. He was pleased that Dr. Samuels at UM had spoken to Dr. Dagan at UF and that the two of them had come up with a plan based on my situation. The appointment was fairly short after a long ride but the news was good and it gave me the opportunity to express my gratitude to Dr. Fernandes in person. I truly appreciate the commitments and sacrifices he has made in his life to become such an outstanding surgeon. He will have a positive impact on the rest of my life.
Annabel and I stopped at Dixie Crossroads on the way home for some very tasty rock shrimp! It was nice to take a short break from everything and have a nice relaxing meal together. I am so grateful for having Annabel in my life. She has stood by me through some rough times and I feel blessed to make a life with her.
