After 6 weeks of radiation treatment in Miami I am finally home!!! It feels great to be back with my family and in my own house. I’ve been spending most of my time hanging out with everyone, getting settled in and sleeping, lots of sleeping.
I am VERY tired and have not been sleeping well. I seem to wake up every hour or so throughout the night. I’m not sure if it’s the discomfort or pain medicines that are waking me up. The pain has continued to intensify over the past week and tends to hang out longer. I’m trying to keep it under control with Fentanyl patches. When necessary I add some other narcotics Dr. Samuels gave me, especially if it’s too painful to eat. The left side of my neck and tongue feel like they are on fire. The narcotics help but make me extremely drowsy and awake at the same time so I’m trying to get this under control.
Through the challenges I’ve been able to continue my exercise routine, adding the dog to my walks, and calorie intake which should help my body heal and get through this phase more quickly.
Here’s a photo Annabel took of me with my mask “ringing out” at Sylvester after my last treatment. A VERY happy moment!!!
